Some of these tips may only apply to certain versions of the Antispam bot. So if you do not see that option mentioned in your Antispam Bot Dialog Setup, you will not be able to use that "tip".

Thanks from all of us on the Antispam bot team for supporting and using the Antispam bot!

Tip #1! Always check our web site or #antispambot-help on Dalnet for newer versions on the Antispam bot.

Tip #2! If you have a problem you can get help on #antispambot-help on Dalnet or by leaving a message on the Offical Antispam Bot web page Message board.

Tip #3! In larger channels and even in smaller channels, when more than one Chan Op uses a bot, try and have them be on different servers. This helps in case of netsplits or lag to catch spammers quickly.

Tip #4! Change the settings on your antispam bot from time to time to look for spammers. For example, change the cycle time often. The cycle time is how long your bot stays in a channel before it cycles. The default is 15 minutes. Sometimes that can be too long and needs to be made shorted. But remember! Do not set the cycle time to less then 3 minutes! The !list and @find options take that long to run and you need to allow time for any spammer bot that is lagged in the channel to respond.

Tip #5! Change the Cycle Delay time (in version 3.32 and above). Spammers can ignore nicks or addy's that cycle the  channel. So delay the bot from re-joining the channels for 2 to 3 minutes or more.

Tip #6  If you use a fixed nickname for your antispam bot, change it once and a while! You may be suprised to finda spammer or two is ignoring your old bot nick!

Tip #7  Using both the !list and @find options can put a heavy load on the bot if your computer is slow or running a lot of scripts. Have another Op using the antispam bot run one option while you run another.

Tip #8  Remember to check the Reconnect if bot becomes disconnected bot on the Settings General tab. Nothing like your bot being disconnected by a spammer flooding it and then not having it work.

Tip #9  Always relay to #AntiSpamBot the spammer info. And if you can, send the whois info as well. This allows IRCops to monitor that channel to help get information to AKILL spammers!

Tip #10 If you have found any other tips you would like to share, visit #antispambot-help and tells us what works good in finding spammers. We will pass the information along to others like you fighting SPAM!
